Field Plazas and sub-centers

PhotoAs the most enterprising and innovative effort of the urban research plaza, we have established "field plazas" around Osaka area. Each field plaza acts as a social laboratory to combine civic wisdom and academic knowledge through unanticipated encounters, assisted by the network for research and community development not seen previously at universities. The field plazas aim to delve into various urban issues by discussing and investigating them thoroughly.
In addition to the national goals, the urban research plaza develops urban theories of the 21st century in cooperation with overseas benchmark cities through the network of "overseas sub-centers". While comparing and questioning the nature of historical evolution of urban governance of each city, the overseas sub-centers provide a site for international academic training. The plaza arranges regularly workshops, seminars and forums in cooperation with the local research institutes in overseas.
